Eating raw and healthy wasn’t exactly the norm in my generation; however, I feel blessed to have been raised in a neo-hippie household, where ‘raw’ and ‘vegan’ were staples in our household cooking regime.
Where I grew up, this kind of meal planning was simple. We didn’t eat out of cans or boxes. We picked veggies and fruit from our backyard, traded with local farmers, and we had an enormous avocado tree which we relied on for many meal ideas.
My Grammy’s favorite recipe (or at least my favorite recipe she made!) was her avocado chocolate pudding! Raw, vegan and delicious! As a new mother and an advocate of healthy cuisine, I am especially fond of this recipe, simply because it’s super easy and completely satisfying.
- 4 Avocados
- 1 C Honey
- 1.5 C Cacao powder
- 2 T Vanilla
- 1 Pinch Sea Salt
